Facilities & Environment
Equipment
Our laboratory is equipped for plant-focused molecular biology experiments. We also have access to the extensive common equipment available at NIG.
Computers
Each lab member is provided with a personal computer. For large-scale analyses, we use the NIG Supercomputer. In addition, the following compute servers in the lab are available:
- GPU server "audrey1"
- CPU: AMD EPYC 7713 (2.0 GHz 64-Core) x 2
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada x 1
- RAM: 512GB (32GB x 16)
- Network-attached storage "seymour1"
- 320TB (20TB x 16) HDD, RAID6
Cultivation space
Our laboratory has dedicated cultivation rooms and plant incubators. Many of our carnivorous plant lines are maintained as sterile cultures.
- Cultivation room using non-sterile potting soil: for carnivorous plants and related species.
- Cultivation room using sterile potting soil: for Arabidopsis thaliana, Nicotiana benthamiana, and related plants.
- Growth chambers and incubators: for maintaining sterile cultures of carnivorous plants and other materials.
Office desks and bench space
Each lab member is assigned a dedicated desk. Lab benches are run on a shared basis, but during an active experimental period you may exclusively use the bench assigned to you.
Break and meeting space
A tea room shared with a neighboring lab is available for breaks and small meetings. We also use the room at lunchtime.
Conference participation
If you present work conducted in our lab at a conference, we provide travel support. The exact level of support depends on the lab budget, but we do our best to help interested members attend both domestic and international meetings.
